John R. Phillips, III, D.M.D
Dr. John R. Phillips III is the American Board of Orthodontics Diplomate. He has practiced orthodontics in the Birmingham area since 1988.
Dr. Phillips attended the University of Alabama, where he graduated with honors and was elected into Phi Beta Kappa, the nation’s oldest academic society. He obtained his doctorate in dentistry from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon honor fraternity. Dr. Phillips completed his specialty training in orthodontics at Louisiana State University School of Dentistry in New Orleans.
He maintains professional memberships with the American Association of Orthodontists, Southern Association of Orthodontists, Alabama Dental Association, and the Birmingham District Dental Society.
Away from the office, Dr. Phillips is an avid musician. He plays guitar and trumpet for various groups. He also enjoys restoring antique cars, water sports, and tennis. He and his wife, Kate, reside in Mountain Brook and have two grown children, Robert and Madeline. Maddie recently completed her orthodontic residency and joined PT Ortho at our Hoover and Jasper locations.
